You must be living under the rock if you do not know about
computer games. But in crowd of 3d action adventure and shooting games 2d games
sometimes like lost behind. But there are some indie game designers who are
also willing to make 2d games with some innovative take. Karoshi is also a game
which is also lost in the crowd of giant games. But if you really fancy 2d
games and appreciate innovation with challenge then you must try this game.
Gameplay
Karoshi is Japanese word which means death from overwork. So
you have to commit suicide in order to escape your work.
Unlike other games where you have to reach to your goal
without getting killed, Karoshi is a game where you have to kill yourself. As I
said that you have to kill yourself, so you have to find ways to kill
yourself. It will become harder as you progress, so yes it is puzzle game,
however technically it is 2d plate former.
There are several stages like other games, as you kill your
character you will move to next stage or level. As for committing suicide there
are several options like deadly spikes, bottomless pit, heavy crates, guns, you
name it and it is there. But still there are several other methods to get
killed that you do not even know.
A big fat caution; never go for walk-through, you may be
stuck in some levels, frankly speaking in a lot of level you will get stuck,
but it is fun to get the solution by yourself (and also you will feel yourself
genius after clearing level by your own).
Despite it is an indie game its music composer Jake Almond
has created very good music. Yes it is true it is not an eye candy, but
innovation and creativity is there in each level. Other turn off is that it has
no replay value, as it is puzzle game it is expected. So when the whole game is
finished you will be left hungry for more, but there is nothing to worry about.
They already have so many version of this game and you can easily find in
Internet. If you have ipad so they have ipad version recently launched and
android version is also available.
So I think there is no excuse not to play this game, at
least you can give it a try and then decide whether you like it or not, but I
bet you will like it. So buddies happy gaming.
